Gaskets

WRT gaskets, do people make their own, buy from Pug or have a secret source of gaskets unknown to me? In my experience Auto factors don't tend to be too hot on selling individual gaskets, and I can understand why, it would be a PITA for them. Peugeot generally still stock them, but that's not going to last forever, and they're a pain to get to for me. I've made some myself but it's not an ideal solution...

Thoughts, everyone?

Depends what for - in alot of cases (manifolds, sumps, waterpumps, thermostat housing etc) I don't bother with gaskets and just use an appropriate sealant instead which has served me well for many years - typically decent quality RTV for most surfaces, and high-temp stuff for manifolds.

Obvious exception is the headgasket, but they're easily available on their own so there's no issue.

Seals, rather than gaskets, are more the problem, as these are often either NLA or very expensive individually.

So you just use the RTV and no gasket whatsoever? I generally use sealant and a gasket - hope I'm not doing this wrong!!!

Might give the sealant only idea a whirl, what product do you suggest - I'm always a bit lost with this stuff, do i need semi hardening/fully hardening/etc!

The water distibution block on the distro side of the head as it happens.

that's the thermostat housing, peugeot still do the gasket for that, but I haven't had issue with sealant either.

Loctite 5699 highly recommended. It's the grey one.
