Saxo Electric Pas Problem

Recommended Posts

Yes, yes, yes I know this is a 205 forum but people on here seem to be the most helpful on any forum!

My daily runner whist the 205 is off the road, my little zillion mile saxo vtr has developed a power steering fault. After the car has been parked for a little while it lost losses all its power assist and system needs rebleeding to get the PAS back (lock to lock a couple of time). I cant see any leaks in the system, and once re-bleed the PAS is fine all the time the pump is running.

Any suggestions as to if this fault would be the pump or the rack? I dont fancy changing the rack unless I have to!

Working on the 205 is fine, but working on the saxo makes me grumpy!

Thanks,

Mad

when you lose PAS, do you know if the pump is working or not?

these can give pump and relay issues, not heard of steering racks themselves going.

Its only after the car has been parked for a while, when driving its fine.

My gut feeling is the pump is on the way out!

you have to disconnect the yellow plug with the brown wires if i can remember properly and loop the 2 together at the ignition barrel have a look on google saw it there on a search a few years back.

but the pumps are bad also when its not working give it a bash with a hammer and bar and if it kicks into life again its the pump.

my mate carried out the looping of the wires on his and that cured his problem
