Hose Identification Please

Recommended Posts

Lankylad78

Can anyone identify this hose please? I've checked through the diagrams I can find and I'm still unsure.

I have had to severly bodge it to get me home from work (hence the collection of jubilee clips!). It's a small diameter bore with a thick wall, however it is splayed at this end to enable fitting.

It appears to run from the top pointer to the bottom pointer as far as I can make out.

It's a standard 1.9 8v on a '93 J without PAS, ABS etc.

If it is identifiable could you please advise on a part number, or where I can get one.

Thanks in Advance

Sean

Best thing to do is get rid of that hose altogether.

Currently, the setup you've got runs from expansion tank to throttle body, and then throttle body to thermostat housing (the pipe that is leaking). Best thing to do is just run straight from expansion tank to the thermostat housing, getting rid of the throttle body section - it's only there for heating the throttle body, which isn't needed in the mild UK climate.

Getting rid will leak you a slightly cooler inlet, a simpler cooling system, and one less pipe (and a couple less joins) to leak.

Anthony, Thats a good tip, but how does it fair at say -16 during winter?

Andy, I'm going to raid your garage while you're scoffing your Maccy D's! :D

Mines been running minus the throttle body heating pipes for ages now (3+ years) & so have all the 205 GTI's I've helped look after locally for a similar amount of time.

Graham.

Mine's bypassed, no problems whatsoever in the snow (apart from the chronic lack of grip!)
