Gti6 Brake Conversion Hose Problem

Recommended Posts

dino20vt

I bought a set of 306 calipers that came with longer hoses for fitting to a 205. Problem is, the hole in the flexi is too small to accept the pin in the union on the end of the copper pipe attached to the inner wing.

Can I just swap this:

you dont need to use that fitting, its the remains of the old hose.

Ah, I see, that fitting is not used anymore as the new hose has one permanently attached to it. Only problem now is the flared copper end only screws in one turn if that.

Wrong fitting or as said the remain's of a old braded hose as they are like that inside, Need to remove the old stuff so your just left with the copper pipes then it's a direct fit as per any std or uprated hose

Trouble is it doesnt seem to be a direct fit as the flexi doesn't seem deep enough to accept the copper end.

got a picture?

Have now,

Because of the area with no threads on it makes it to long to catch on the threads on the flexi

This is too shallow:

I would recomend you change the solid pipe ASAP, that will split and leave you with no brakes

Theyre being done in the next few weeks by my mate before my MOT.

Any ideas why I have had to cut the end off the copper fitting to make it fit? Are they none standard or are the flexi's not meant for this application?

Do the 'before the Dremel' pictures show a normal copper fitting?

please make your pictures smaller!!!

I'd leave using the car till its got a new brake line like Miles suggested, that fitting doesn't look wrong, though I can't remember what type I used on mine.

Not sure about the copper as it looks like the std metal brake pipe to me, Which the fittings are fine, Mind there are 2 types of screw one with a thread to the end and one with a fair amount of space at the bottom which isn;t quite so good

So there's two types of solid brake line bolts, one threaded all the way to the tip, the other with a wasted part for the first few mm of length?

No more pictures on this subject!

The car is going nowhere as it hasn't got any MOT, Tax or insurance.

Are you referring to the flexi or rigid copper male bolt/screw/fitting?
