I have been a member on here for a short time but feel what's the point! I'm fed up with people answering other peoples problems by saying do a search! That is just useless. I know I'm going to rub people up the wrong way and I'm not deliberately being nasty. Maybe it's just this site has got too big and has just lost it's personal touch? To me, if I have a problem with my car and start a new thread it means I need friendly advice and help.

Some people on here should have a look at seriesoneturbo forum and take a leaf out of they're book. They're helpful friendly and go out of there way to help with any problems and in my opinion isn't that the point?

Regards AJU

Only inside 15" wheels,

Two brown plugs near the heater,

if I have a problem with my car I can't (or dont know how to) I do a search !

99% of the time it has been covered, which is unsurprising as these cars are up to 26 years old now, and the forum has been around for over ten I believe.

+1.

I very much doubt that there isn't a question (related to the GTI) that hasn't been asked.

If you search, you'd see that this has been covered many times before.

Bye then!

^^tickled me .

But serisously mate you come here havnt really contributed alot and want every think given to you on a plate because your being lazy.So youre going to get a few smart remarks

And i know the search function can be a pain in the arse ,but most 205 questions have already been asked so the answers are all out there and ive been a lazy c*nt myself and asked stupid questions .But stick with it mate you`ll learn to love it and theres alot of very knowledgeable members on here .And stuff you wont find for a 205 anywhere else

BTW dont take it to heart mate just a point in the right direction .

Clever bastard! B)

EDIT: Also, to the OP, if you'd used a more appropriate topic title it would help. Most people probably won't even read your topic as the title suck's donkey balls :P

At the same time, if everybody just 'did a search' for everything there wouldn't be much to read. If I know the answer to a question id much rather just answer the question than unhelpfully answer 'do a search'

I guess its just about balance and to be fair I don't see this issue occuring much on here these days anyway

I am going to answer what is obviously an attempt to goad people with a sort of sensible answer.

O/P you are right when you say this site is here to help people but I think you are missing the point when people say do a search.

It is not because they don’t want or can’t be arsed to help, in fact by encouraging people to use the search function (you have already agreed to do this as part of signing up) you are helping them to help themselves.

It is more beneficial for the individual if they can log on and find an answer in 15 minuets than start a thread ( my car won’t start it just makes a clicking noise) and wait a couple of hours for a response.

Or am I talking BS?

Personally I thought it was going to be a "I've been ripped off by seriesoneturbo" thread.

i can see where he coming form this forum is huge and if your not used to it, it can be a little confusing i been on several forums in the past.

there could be a few fetures off some other forum that could make it easyer to use

like the 406coupe have how to guides there in there own section and have detailed post with pictures shouning u everything from fitting a aftermarket head unit(its quite complicated due to the jbl amped sterio system in them) to v6 cambelt changes , and even bodywork tips.

its makes them easy to find.

and in all honisty using the search can be a right pain at times,

i think some on hear just need to be a bit more leanent on new members i was on here over 4-5 month before i made my first post.

Like the articles section we currently have on the main website rather than within the forum ?

...seriesoneturbo forum and take a leaf out of they're book. They're helpful friendly and go out of there way to help with any problems and in my opinion isn't that the point?

Their implies ownership

They're is an abbreviated form of 'they are'

There is a reference

So you should have written:

"...seriesoneturbo forum and take a leaf out of THEIR book. They're (you got this one right! Well done, collect a gold star!) helpful, friendly and go out of THEIR way..."

Note: I also added a comma after 'helpful' as this signals to the reader a pause so as not to read it as helpfulfriendly; not that you would in reality.

See? How helpful are we on this forum?

So, we've all read the rules and guidelines and joined a forum?

General posting guidelines:

- the main rule of thumb is to get familiar and use the search function. most of

the technical questions you may want to ask have most probably been asked

and answered several times by now.

All you need to do is click on the search link (top right corner of the page)

and be careful what you enter as search criteria.

There's also a quick sub-forum search function (botton left corner of the page).

We are also constantly cleaning up the forum and archiving the most useful and

best technical topics. these topics can be found in Technical Archives forum

- there's another knowledge base you may not be aware of - Articles on the website.

articles go in-depth explaining and/or guiding you through some of the most popular

and/or most complex questions and issues, so make sure you're fully aware of all the

subjects they cover. to read the articles, go to http://www.205gtidrivers.com

So if I take the time to read and answer your queries will you read and understand that any better - probably not.

Richie

I feel its sort of manners to search before asking a question.

Like, if i went in a shop to find some milk, i'd search first then if i couldn't solve that mystery, i would ask for help.
