Any Renault Laguna Dci Owners?

Recommended Posts

dee205

I've bought a 2003 Renault Laguna 1.9 DCI 120bhp as I do 100 mile round trip to work every day.

Damn good well worth the price they go for.

Now the previous owner mentioned bushes in a stabiliser bar being worn as there is a slight judder on occasion similar to a worn lower engine mount bush on a 205. Without having to climb in around the car with my dodgy back, does anyone have any idea what mount/bush it is most likely to be and where do I find it?

Has anyone ever had or know of a remapped one. I've been told by a few places they can take the 120 up to 150bhp but I'm not sure what it's gonna be like on fuel after. I'm not gonna do it if I drop mpg. Currently getting 45-50 mpg

Cheers

typically you dont drop any mpg with a remapped diesel, often you get an improvement, you just go faster an use more fuel when you have your toe down.

not worked on many of these, but have heard that they are plauged with electrical issues, more so than pugs.

I took 2 days getting an single injector out of a 2,2 dci engine .They seize in spoke to renault to see if they made a puller for these and they said they take the head off and bang them out ;)

So be for warned go to an injector specialist as i had to take the injector apart in situ and borrow a puller from a local specialist .When it would have been much easier to pay the £50 odd quid he would have charged to take it out for me

Other than a few other issues these are a cracking car .Hell of a car for the money and like the 205 i`d have one and put up with the niggles because its such a nice car

TBH my mate has the Mk1 model and his sister has had all from 1999 to 2007. He did warm about the gearbox and a few electrical bits. TYre sensor's not a problem as its a Dynamique and doesn't have them. I've heard from a lot of people the main issue witht the window regulators messing up is due to excess stress from pulling/pushing the windows partly casued by the window rubbers. A solution that has seemed to have worked for a lot of people is to regularly use silicone spray to keep the rubber supple and cut down on friction.

I'll think I'll get a few prices for a remap too.

Don't forget dual mass flywheels and sunroof problems! My brother in laws breaking one at the minute as I think it had all problems mentioned above. Let me know if you need anything.

got rid of a 07 plate 2.0dci tourer last month on the whole not a bad car,but they do have issues.

the 1.9 suffers with turbo problems that can take out the engine if warning signs are ignored (had a megane 1.9 a few years back that blew up in a cloud of smoke on m42 engine change on warranty) egr valves stick aswell.

the dual mass on my 2.0 was on way out so i got rid before having to shell out close on a grand.

the bottom arm bushes also go and are a sh1t to change the arms due to subframe needs to be dropped to get the bolts out,the rear beam bushes also go on them had mine done on warranty at 35k miles.

on the plus side you get a lot of car for your dough mine had everything fitted as standard as was the last of the lag 2 models dynamique nav

I have a 52 plate Sports Tourer 1.9dci. Yes its goes wrong from time to time, but it's comfy, handles well, and has good MPG so you live with the problems.

If you have a Sports Tourer you need to watch out for the rear wiper arm seizing and the rear glass itself shattering.

Found mine in a million pieces oneday, and have heard it's not uncommon.

Tyre sensors on mine have never gone wrong once.

They work very well, bar being a tad over sensitive. Sometimes they flash in the morning, when the tyres are cold.

ESP system works when it feels like it.

I think it must be a loose connection tbo. Although...(Touch wood)...the light has now been off for several weeks.

Turbo....Big problem. Mine on it's second at 140K.

I think maybe Garrett made them from plastic?

N/S front window regulator went on mine.

Think it only cost £35 off eBay and was a simple job to do.

Sticking clutch pedals.

Meaning you need a new clutch master cylinder.

Out of intrest what is a sign of the dual mass flywheel going?

Mines been making a rattley noise which stops when you dip the clutch. I was hoping clutch release bearing, but I bet i'm not that lucky.

Or buy an Audi a4 and do not live with the problems?

With a failing dual mass you can get rattling on idle that goes when pressing clutch, you can also get vibration and noise between gearchange and when under load this is what happened to mine it had a drone noise starting.

Take starter off and see if there are any brass particles in there this is a sign dual mass is breaking up

I did 85k in an 02 120DCi Laguna and regard it as the worst car I've ever had. It's only plus point was comfort on long journeys but otherwise a steaming pile of poo. The relationship ended in a cloud of smoke, steam and fubar'd turbo on a wet M3 just before Christmas 2004 and not before time.
