Gti-6 Over-revving On Idle

Recommended Posts

2052006

Yesterday, when the car was started it decided to rev up to about 2.5k and go up and down between 2 and 3k rpm all of it's own accord.

Strangely, this was with me in the passenger seat and my cousin driving who was just taking it for a quick spin. It has never done this with me in the driver's seat, though my wife insisted about 5 monghts ago that it did this exact thing with her driving (I didn't believe her when she came home moaning about it, much to her annoyance).

Both times have been from warmish - at least not stone cold.

My initial thoughts are ICV, though this was brand new about a year ago.

Any other thoughts? It's not really a problem and we drove it back home 100 faultless miles, but forewarned is forearmed in my experience with the 205 for when it inevitably decides to do this regularly.

Oh yes, it was solved by turning the engine off and on again!!

:D

CosKev

Multi relay,or ECU :D

I know mine had a live missing from the multi relay when first did eng conversion, and this caused the fuel pump not to prime, and there was no voltage at the ICV :P

HERMAN

It is possible to clean out ICV with some carb cleaner. I used to have to do this offten on a car I used to own.
