Wishbone Outer Joint Shields

I have just changed the wishbone bushes this weekend for new oe bushes, so far so good but before I clamp it all up is it worth bothering with the heat shields for the outer joint to shield from heat from the brake disc? I can see why they are there but they're rusted to pieces almost and I don't remember seeing them on my 309 gti?

 

The car has standard brakes and is only used on the road, not track

I tok mine off years ago and haven't noticed any deterioration/damage from heat.
