Recommended Posts

popped into peugoet eccosse on saturday for some advice from them. i have actually ended up thinking about taking the car to them to be fixed properly. has anyone on the site had work done by them, i know they are specailists and have done some really nice cars. what about prices and labour charges, dont want this car to end up costing me a fortune . . cheers

IIRC the work they do is good, but they're slightly expensive.

<pedantic> Peugeot Ecosse </pedantic>

have had exhaust, brakes and suspension fitted there and lowered rear beam, was good work, but expensive, rear beam lasted 2.5 years and 85k miles before the trailing arm gave up, 130k miles in total.

They built my now sold 309 show car and work was superb. My 306 t16 engine conversion was done by them and it's a daily runner, have owned it for 4 years now and it's never missed a beat.

What's actually the problem?

Ecosse (think they got into trouble for starting out as Peugeot Ecosse) certainly know their stuff and turn out good cars, but is it something of a specialised nature which you need done?

They'd certainly know what they we're doing in this respect more than most.

I see you're in Kirkcaldy - Check with Brian Black Motors for details of the Sparkie he uses (Hamish). Brian's on the road across from the Fire Station.

Saturn Auto's were recommended to me by Peugeot Kirkcaldy a few months ago! The guy in there knows his stuff and is a bit of a peugeot enthusiast himself i believe? The last time i was there he was breaking a 205 and there was a body kitted pink 205 there too.

I get on with everyone at ecosse very well - their paint shop (to me) is spot on. Never ever a sign of orange peel :o I had my goodwood fully re-sprayed there and more recently had a bit of damage repaired thanks to someone who didn't leave their insurance details in a car park. Sometimes i feel it's quite a journey to go from Kirkcaldy > Bo'ness though when there's a Peugeot Garage along the road...BUT i still end up going to Bo'ness. I don't really trust the dealer.

I wouldn't trust the dealers either :D not many proper peugeot trained mechanics there anymore. They'd know as much about your 205 as fiat/honda along the road and will be a rip-off: £57/hour iirc.

I have alot of the peugeot wiring diagrams from this certian dealership (not stolen, were going in the skip!?) if you need a hand but stevie @ saturn is very good and quite reasonably priced too

well today i put the car back together, attatched all my wiring i made. (used spade connectors0 to join the wires together for easy removal if a wire goes bad, put the engine back together, all set up ready to go and nothing atall, just the same click noise from the fusebox. its had a new dizzy and rotor. plugs , leads. new radiator. new loom which i added wires too. so pissed off with the car now, been all day working on it and to just get the same result is total s*it like. 1 good thing is i now have all the lights on my dash for the sensors working now , what do i check next .? forgot to add petrol seems to be constantly being pumped through to the injectors. is this the relay thats at fault for that.

306 starter will be fine, but check it turns over by putting 12v straight to the solenoid. Ignition barrel could possibly be another one and that can be tested with a multimeter.

I assume nothing happens when you try to start it, just a clicking noise from fusebox? Is it getting 12v @ starter soleniod when you try crank it? Battery ok? Check main earth cable from battery > gearbox/chassis. Also check battery positive cable from battery. Best to get a known good starter motor and fit that.
