Running Very Rough

Recommended Posts

My Mi16 conversion is running very rough. The idle is very poor with the car stalling when revs not applied. I thought it was the air flow meter but having removed that there is still no idle improvement. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the AFM, I had to retrack the potentiometer - do a search for guides, and then used a multimeter to check the resistances across the terminals as per CAPs, it now idles spot on. HTH

TBH it could be any number of things. It would be a good idea to find someone with a working Mi16 that you can swap parts back and forth to trace the problem. But if you are any good with a multimeter, using teh CAPS programe to check the values at each component will help a lot (the program is stickied in one of the sub forums). It could running rich due to a faulty or badly set up AFM or CTS (coolant temp sender - if faulty the engine thinks it's very cold and injects extra fuel, much like an old fashioned choke), it could be running lean, it could be the ICV, it could be the TPS (throttle position sensor), and on and on....

Just seen your other topic. So it's running 8v Jetronic from a 1.6  That's why it runs like s*it!
