Rear Beam Part Thread Size?

Recommended Posts

dino20vt

I removed one of these today:

And partially knackered the thread.

Does anyone a) know what size tap I'd need to clean the thread up, ;) where I'd get one from in Leicester or c) get it done in Leicester?

Cheers

I'd try to clean it with a thread file, without measuring one I don't know the thread size, but I'll bet it is an oddball fine metric thread, and a tap will be hard to get hold of, and expensive.

Sorry should of worded it a bit better, I mean the threads on the beam casting are knackered.

Looks like buying one is out of the question then, can anyone think of any engineering shops in Leicester or Northampton?

It's 30x1 iirc, which is a very odd size, and a tap won't be cheap.

Probably mean 3x1, 30 is a bit bigger.

More likely to be 30x1 given the size of the plug Edwardo....

Looks pretty small to me comparing it to that finger nail, but hey never messed around with beams.

I agree it does look pretty small and I've got small hands so what's all that about? Makes my knob look bigger though!

Here's a better picture: (not of my knob)

It does indeed mate. I took it to my mates garage and pressed it out, only took 300 psi (is that much?) to budge it and it didn't even bang, unlike the other side still attached to the arm and the shaft in the arm which scared the sh1t out of me when it went. So I'm guessing the trusty sledge started it off! Don't suppose you've got the disc backing plates have you mate as I can't find them anywhere?
