Coolant Bleed

Hi there i hope i am posting in the right section...

 

i have uprated to all BBM hoses and obviously there is no bleed screw in the pipe going to the bulkhead, do i use the screw by the themostat??

 

Any help greatly recieved cheers guys

Effectively you're try to chase air out of the system, pushing it up (as that's where it wants to go) to the highest point. The highest point in the system is where you should be able to let it escape.

 

Therefore if your bleed screw on the stat housing (and be gentle with it) is the highest, then yes, bleed there, squeezing rad hoses to force air up and out.

 

If your expansion tank is higher - and this is the way I've bled systems and never had a problem - just leave the cap off, run the engine and squeeze the hoses. You'll see the air (bubbles) escaping with either method.

jimbob or anyone who may know...

 

i have the bbm hose kit which i went to fit yesterday and the bottom hose coming from the pipe which runs along the back of the engne

 

is too big in diameter ie sloppy. but the other end of the hose whch goes to the metel pipe in the inner wing is ok.

 

this is on a gti-6 engine. does a standerd 205 gti hose fit a gti-6 conversion???

theres two sizes mate. i had the wrong one originally and just did it up tight and was ok but id ring stew and he will swap it for you im sure :rolleyes:
