Top Engine Mounts

I need to replace my top engine mounts is the bakerbm grpn ones the cheapest available or are there any cheaper uprated ones available.

probably get the whole mounting kit actually :)

 

Tom explained replacing top mounting part which sounds easy enough just not sure about the lower bush and the gearbox mounting :lol:

read up gearbox mount sounds easy enough but the lower mount bush sounds like you gotta take drive shaft and drain gearbox oil?

Yes, then remove the mount from the block, remove the old bush, press in the new bush.

Alternatively I have some spare mount casings, so I can press a new bush into one of those, then you just need to swap the casing over. Still needs the shaft out though.

Yup, that in fairness isn't overly hard.

 

You will require the old bush pressing out and new pressing in though, better IMHO to buy another mount and have that done at a pro garage - then simply swap the lot over.

Another option.....

 

I've replaced two lower mounts now without removing anything except the bush.

 

Cut out old bush

clean up all surfaces

grease them up

Line up new bush

Persuade new bush in with wooden / rubber mallet

 

Takes less than 90 minutes.

 

EDIT: I always find the top one hardest to remove, especially if it is stuck!
