Another Heater Blower Problem

My heater blower in my gti works when it wants, for as long as it wants but i have no i dea when that will be, im guessing its a bad switch or resistor or something along those lines, but where will it likely to be, behind the control or near the fan?

 

Also when it does work it doesn't chuck much air out when everything is up on full which is a huge problem when trying to demist in the morning, would this be because of the problem above or another one

I get the feeling the fan was never the 205s strong point - mine just wafted air gently towards the screen even when it was new...

Resistor, at the footwel, all the way at the bottom of the dash, held by 2 screws. Also take the fan out of its casing, there can be all sorts of junk in it, wasp nests, dust, etc. Renew the coper connections (some sanding paper ) apply WD 40
