Xs Brakes Not Upto Scratch

Recommended Posts

aymen_a22

I took my car out for a little spin on tyres that were on the limit in very heavy rain and could not get the wheels to lock at all. The brakes are not what they used to be at all.

Is there anything I might be able to do as I have already adjusted the rear drums and put brand new brake fluid through the whole system.

Thanks very much

How old are your brakes & are they decent quality?

Good quality discs & pads rather than cheapest you can find is always a good start.

Graham.

Not sure if the calipers have ever been replaced tbh however I have apec disks and pads on the front and apec shoes at the rear which are all in good condition.

Went for the MOT today and it passed but im not really happy with the brake travel or how sharp the brakes are.

Any more ideas?

Thanks very much

Batfink

you could try a pad compound with more bite.

I'd suggest having a look at replacing both front flexi pipes.

They are known to cause problems, one of mine was knackered and as a result, the driver side calliper wouldn't release properly!
