Tu24 Rallye Driveshafts

Recommended Posts

My driveshafts have now done 200,000Kms and hundreds of speed events, they have had several new boots over the last 21 years but are now starting to sound a bit noisy when lock is applied.

Is there anyone who can refurbish driveshafts to as good as new or will I have to junk them and resort to my local Peugeot Stealer?

I don't think these driveshafts can be rebuilt very easily, it may cost you more to get them done than to buy some new ones. If you really want to get them rebuilt i would suggest these people; http://www.reco-prop.com/

i dont think they can be rebuilt as part of the outer joint is integral to the shaft and isnt a true CV joint as you'd find on a 1.9 and other larget peugeots.

best bet would be some exchange driveshafts from a reptable source like GKN, r peugeot themselves.

I've got 3 known good shafts for a base model you can have for beer tokens if you like, (Only not being used as I did a BE4 conversion) saying that you're not exactly local!

Just checked Servicebox and they are about £250 for a pair exchange. Are they any different from a base 205 driveshaft with it having 1.6 gti suspension and hubs?

Cheers for the offer Ross, if they will fit I'd be more than happy to give you plenty of beer tokens plus the postage!

Ok, let me know then. One of the shafts is new and was only on the car for a couple of months (The long right hand side one) and the others are good, there's both a left and a right side. I accidentally split the boot on the old RHS shaft getting it off but other than that they are fine.

I'm pretty sure they will fit as I'm now running 1.6 GTi shafts with my BE4 box but using base model hubs, so there is no reason why they wouldn't fit a rallye running 1.6 gti hubs! (If you can see the logic there)

some of the challenge people run 1600 hubs using the base model shafts. dont think theres much of a difference really.

Servicebox says the TU24 shaft is unique and different to the base model. Not sure what the difference is..
