daim, if its any help i have got the kms managment software so dont think it would be too hard to run a std 8v using it provided we can get a good map going on.

there are also a couple of 8v's on the forum at the mo that would be ripe for putting back in? at sub £100. could be an idea depending on how quickly you want to get it back on the road?

If you're just putting an 8v back in, it's probably easier (and certainly cheaper) to just chuck it back on 8v management rather than paying to get the KMS remapped to suit. Chances are that anyone that's removed an 8v engine for a 16v engine conversion will have the loom, ECU, and AFM available as well - drop the whole lot in complete, and one 205 back on the road

to be honest i am not to sure why the engine would need re mapping as it was all up and running fine when it was in the gti6 the only difference is the exhaust.

spent all of saturday at my mothers to clear the garage so instead of fitting 3 cars in their she can now fit 5 in there.

i am in no rush to get it back on the road but i have just renewed the insurance on it.

thanks for the offer pete i will give you a buzz as and when

i think the best option in the long run would be for me to source a complete 306gti6 and take the engine from that but only time will tell.

be of a waist buying a good car just to pull the engine out, the going rate for engines is £500 so i wouldnt want to pay much more than that.

oh i found a siegen mig welder when clearing out my mothers junk, she dont know where it came from or if it works. do you want to have a look at it for us and give me some pointers with it

its up to you mate? , we could always come to a deal for just the engine when the time comes. my tax runs out in november so i was looking around that time to get shot of it. and tbh the bodywork lets it down a bit otherwise it would be very good. i was gonna put it up for 800 with 6 months mot left and no tax but i dunno yet.

yeah let me know when you are down there again and i'll help you out, although im not a master welder or anything. does it have welding wire in it?

just thought though maybe its best to take the head off yours first and see what we are dealing with? might just get away with a new std head which will be much cheaper?

I'm so glad you've seen sense Damien and decided to keep the car. All us Eurotrippers '09 saw the commitment you had for that car and it'd be a shame to lose that just because of one bad engine conversion. As I said in my previous post, just keep it unused for a while and sit back and recoup your enthusiasm and then decide what to do with it. :)

the red one is spares, i thought it was a unwritten rule that all 205 owners had a spare 205 for parts.

my sister seems to use it more than me, even tho she all ready has a spare 1.6
