Fuel Pump Advice

Recommended Posts

Henry 1.9GTi

I have just removed my fuel pump prior to ordering a new one and was expecting to find a P2 pump as the car is a 1990. This is what came out:

and this 'cup' was inside the tank:

Is this a P1 or P2 setup? I was going to order the walbro replacement item from RallyNuts which I know has been covered on here before and doesn't fit in the pump housing I have.

Where can I get a standard replacement or upgraded walbro or equivilent pump for this setup? GSF only list one part and at ~£50 I'm worried it may be a bit s*ite.

Thanks,

Henry.

certainly looks like the P1/1.5 unts I've seen before, IIRC P2 are white plastic, not sure if the pump inside is the same.

never bought a pump from GSF, but I think they are Bosch or Walbro anyway, best to give them a call.

remove the pump unit from yu housing and see if their part numbers match.

just to add, from what I read on here it seems people don't suffer from fuel surge with this P1 setup. However my car surges really bad with anything less than 1/2 tank. Could this have anything to do with that 'cup' in the tank, or should there be other baffles as well?

GSF pumps are phase 2 'no name' crap.

Rally nuts ones don't fit.

There are no aftermarket direct replacements.

I bought a new Bosch unit (after a rally nuts one, a GSF one and a seccy hand Bosch!) for £80 odd from SC motorfactors. You get a pump only no housing.

yep exactly what I did. GSF had some cheapo pumps that looked like they would last 1 mile. Eurocarparts got me one in and despite me giving them an exact part number they ordered one with a different part number coz the system cross referenced it :/ They could also order direct from bosch but wanted £150

So in the end got Camberly auto factors to order one from bosch for £91 + VAT a little more expensive than yours but I have a pump the right size now! :)
