Oil Pressure Sender

Recommended Posts

marc t

While doing a few other jobs I have found my oil leak to be coming from the oil pressure sender. Before locking the car away I meant to work out which one it was so I could order one tomorrow (but forgot).

I have done a search but didn't see a post mentioning this.

Can any one advise which one is which. It is the two located next to each other on the front on the engine under the inlet manifold. There is one large one and one smaller one (which is the leaking one)

Thanks

Marc

Large mushroom shaped one is the gauge sender, wherea the smaller one is for the low pressure light.

Thats great. Thanks for that.

Mine is the smaller one so hopefully as its just the light it will be cheaper.

When you say it's leaking from the sender, I'm assuming you mean it's just not sealing against the block. So you shouldn't need a new switch.

Try fitting a new copper crush washer first of all. If that doesn't work, get some plumbers PTFE tape (cheap) and wrap some of that around the thread of the sender before refitting it. It can be a bit fiddly as the tape is piss thin like wet tissue, and you obviously have to wind it in the right direction.

Hi, there is that much oil on it I'm not sure if its the washer or coming through the plastic part. GSF switch was £5 so I have just fitted that. Now I need to get something to clean the engine so I can see if its cured.

Thanks both for your info.
