Boot Has A Hole In Floor

Recommended Posts

hi guy

was working on the car today and after ripping a load of sound deadening out of the boot from the previous owner found a hoe on the passenger side at the rear corner the hole is probably the size of a 50p maybe slightly bigger is this common for them to rot here? i know its had a plate welded on the inner wing on the same side at the front behind the head light and know this is common but ay idea's on the boot and best way to repair it?

the cars a 92 'K' do the newer ones rust easier as my old 98 'F' didn't have any rust

cheers

Hi ive seen a few k reg ones that seem to be more rusty than the older ones? best thing is to cut all the bad metal out and weld new in.

as long as it's not close to the rear suspension you'll be fine.

But common for the boot floors to rot and as you;ve seen on the Forum Late cars from J onwards rot badly

I would hazard a guess that the hole you are talking about was once the hole that that had a plug in it for the boot lining to attach to. There should be one either side. On my previous Cherry Red it was missing one on the drivers side, and eventually it went really rusty around the edge.

Been rear-ended at some point? The resulting crumpling of the boot floor tends to make rot problems considerably worse, as does a persistant leak in the boot.
