Car Not Starting When Warm?

Recommended Posts

grantley1988

Well got the new car yesterday and have a few niggles....first the exhaust was blowing and gradually got worse until it broke! so went and got a new system made up and thats now spot on :)

Next problem... When i started the car in the morning its abit sluggish then kicks into life after two seconds... If i have been driving the car and go to get petrol for example, when i go to start it again. Nothing happens! just feels like its turning over. With a little bump start it kicks into life again???

Any ideas what this could be or what i could look at to rectify it?

The battery is located behing the passanger seat and all the terminals look fine and the earth looks good.

Hope you guys can help!

Right so its cranking over but not starting .Have a look at the coolant temp sensor first try taking an injector wire off when it does it incase its flooding or taking all of them off

Is it running standard management

yes running standard management. Its turning over or cranking (do not no the term?) but not kicking into life.

Well try unplugging the injector wires when it does it then ,then try cranking over if it fires the chances are it`ll be flooding if thats the case it`ll be more than likely the coolant temp sensor for the ecu

Let me know how you get on ,you can test the coolant temp sensor but im unusure what the resistance values should be im sure somone else will post them

Try checking the fuel pressure. If its starting cold the injectors are staying open longer letting more fuel in (cold start). When the engine is warm it doesn't need cold start so the injectors are open for a shorter time. If the pressure isn't there then the amount of fuel getting in (when cold) is just enough to run but when the engines warm it is not. Does it drive poorly? Flat spots?

Drives spot on :) i think it will just be something like a sensor so will have a check tommorow.
