Fuel Pump Help!

Recommended Posts

Alex205vtr

Howdy all,

For my first stupid question today, does anybody know which connection is the fuel out and which is the fuel in on a 205 gti fuel pump?

I'm having a slow day and can't remember!

Is the one towards the back of the car the return?

Thanks in advance!

When I was doing my 106 gti conversion I just guessed which was which and then checked it by putting the fuel line into a bucket at the engine end and letting the pump start to prime up! I guessed right it turned out.

Now for the question of do you know which one is the feed and the return on the fuel rail

The easiest way to check which outlet is which (on the pump) is to look at the top. The outlet is centred in the pump housing, the return is offset. Re. the lines, it's easy if you have a look in the engine bay where they emerge from under the car. They don't cross over underneath, so check whether the left or right pipe feeds the filter- this is the pump outlet  I can't remember offhand despite fitting a swirl pot and booster pump only a couple of months ago...

Hope this helps!

I now have this same question and there appear to be opposing answers on this page. I didn't look close enough to see that they were marked, unless you mean the red/blue paint... Is the one in the centre of the pump the return and the one offset from the centre the fuel feed?

I think I expected the opposite, in agreement with the post above this.
