205 V Mx5

I've never had any verbal abuse but on the A38, where the lanes split into two for the traffic lights then immediately merge back into one lane, I ALWAYS (nearly every evening on my way home from work) get tossers in Mercedes, BMW etc pulling alongside in the right hand lane and revving their engines at me and glaring. And I always burn them off. They may have a bigger engine but they seem to forget that their car is three times the weight of mine!

I love nipping away at the lights and watching their faces fall as they fail to keep up. Stupid thing is, those that have cars capable of pasting me off the line never try.. maybe because those with decent cars actually have more respect for other drivers! ;)

A little G Reg Peugeot 205 GTI wiped the floor with me the other night though. Kudos to him, he did wave at me as he did it.

But verbal abuse... none!

Taken off MX5nutz, made me giggle, obviously although i have one of each my first love is the "little black car"my 205

this is off a topic bemoaning the abuse given to MX 5 drivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends where, I have been known to blow the odd car away off the M1 roundabout lights onto the A38 towards Derby.....

I have both an mx-5 and a 205.

I don't really think my MX-5 could have much off the lights come to think of it... It could have the top off at the lights, but that's about it. I got done by a lupo-GTI as we accelerated away from some lights.

The mx-5 is a better car and will put paid to most things down a flowing A road, it's so stable in all situations, but not boring... at all, the 205 is hairy and smells, but way cooler and feels like it's going to spit you into a hedge given half a chance.

Never had any gayrage at being in an MX-5... in a year and a half, except when overtaking... but that's another topic entirely.

I thought the A361 was the longest..?

Edit - nope, only 195 miles. Isn't that interesting kids?

The A1 is the longest road in Britain at 410 miles, but quite a lot of it is in Scotland.

MX5s? What are they? :)

Must admit the only time i get the "Hairdresser" comments are from mates at work I have never had any nasty comments when out and about in the 5. Mind you i've never had the same positive comments that i get about the 205 gets either.

Ive had 2 MX5 MK1's and the are great cars. But the Jap imports are so much better due to the LSD which make the car so much more fun. IMO the haters should have a go in them, the car itself is not the problem to the image, its the average MX5 driver.
