High Temperature Warning Lamp

Recommended Posts

aymen_a22

I just finished putting the car back together after replacing the head gasket (TU3S engine) and double checked everything, fired it up and it is running better than it ever has before, however the high temperature warning lamp on the temperature gauge is permanently on and I don't know why.

I have looked in my haynes manual and found that it is controlled by a temperature switch, which I believe is on the flywheel end of the engine below the distubutor.

I have checked the wire and it has 12 volts constantly and im sure the switch is working as the resistance when cold is maximum.

Please could someone help as I really do not know why this is happening.

Thanks in advance

mickie

does the light go out when you unplug it from the engine bay ? im sure its just an earth controled by the sender.

if the light goes out when you unplug yet stops on as soon as you start the engine wouldnt that just mean the senders broke.

Right, finally got it fixed, Mickie you are right, other than the 2nd fuse in the fuse box it does just go straight from the sender to the light. I had the wrong wire plugged into the sender which I have now sorted however I now have a different problem.

The wire that I did have plugged in is a single terminal black female spade connector with a yellow wire and it is in the bunch of wires with the starter wire, it is also labeled *32* which in the haynes manual is the power to the dash board. It has 12 volts with the ignition and when the engine is running but I have no idea where this wire is supposed to go as the haynes manual wiring diagram says that it should go between the instrument cluster (64) and the fuse box.

Also does anyone know what the connector at the back of the solex 32/34 carb on the TU3s is for?

Please help as I have no idea what these are for.

Thanks for all the help it's really appreciated

Sorry Mickie, what I meant was the instrument cluster is number 64 on the haynes diagram, it is wire number 32 in the engine bay which I am stuck with, which in the haynes manual says it should connect the fuse box and the instrument cluster.

Any more ideas?

Thanks again
