306 Gti6 Wont Start

Recommended Posts

The alternator packed up on my phase 3 gti6 last week ,the battery went flat not far from my house and the car cut out so i towed it back and put it on the drive

Fitted new alternator last night after charging the battery ,i had to remove the inlet manifold to get at the alternator but only removed the blue multiplug on the timing cover end of the fuel rail which i replaced when i refitted the manifold

The car now turns over but wont start ,ive noticed the fuel pump isnt priming as i cant hear it as usual ,ive checked the fuse and it seems to be fine is there anything else that could be at fault causing the fuel pump not to work

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Chris

Just to check - did you re-connect the MAP sensor back up on the inlet manifold correctly afterwards? I had an embarassing moment where I had put a new air filter and 90 pipe onto the standard GTi6 throttle body, but to give myself a bit more room I disconnected a few sensors. Then went to start the engine and it would turn over but not start, unless I had the throttle to the floor, but then it ran very lumpy and stalled. Turned out I had forgotten to reconnect the MAP sensor....
