Gti6 Conversion - Gearbox Doesn't Fit

Recommended Posts

Masekwm

Decided to start a new thread as I don't think this is a usual issue, I can't find anything on search.

Tonight, I went to bolt up my gearbox to the gti6 engine, however, both the engine and gearbox have locating dowels.

I can't see what I've done wrong  All the other bolts are going in, but as it is the gearbox won't locate against the block because of this.

Help!

Thanks

Keith

you need to remove one of those two dowels if that's what I am seeing in the picture.

I thought you may say that! Is that a simple job?

Just twist and pull one of them out with a pair of mole grips, they are just like fat roll pins I think

 you need to remove one of the dowels, it should twist out using a set of grips.

[edit] beaten to it as usual :D

Yeah annoyingly there's no way of keeping the dowel in one side, engine or gearbox, so if you're mating 2 parts that weren't originally together these things can happen. At least you'll know to check first next time! :D

Wasn't that hard to do, I was able to edge the 'box out of the way on the trolley jack and remove the dowel. All bolted up now
