Bodge Help Needed!

Crap! Crap! Crap!

My dipstick tube has sheared and is hosing oil everywhere - this is especially annoying as it can't be more than 18months since the last one sheared.

Trouble is I have a track evening at Brands this Thursday and none of the dealers have them in stock, Peugeot say it wont' be available until September 3rd.

Anyone got any bodge suggestions to bung the hole in the meantime? I guess I could just use a suitable stopper.

Any ideas to stop it happening again too?

I bet someone on here could get you one in time. Use Special delivery and you will get it Thursday morning if it's sent tomorrow. ^_^

I've got a new 8v dipstick tube here, still in the original packaging if you wanted me to send you that, and you send me a replacement back as and when Peugeot have it back in stock?

Obviously wouldn't get to you until Thursday morning at the earliest though, which is cutting it a little fine for a Thursday evening track when you consider that from memory, you need to remove the exhaust manifold to fit the new dipstick tube, and that alone has the potential to turn into a ballache if any of the studs snap (as they have a habit of doing)

How are you managing to shear the dip stick tube?? Can't see how you are managing it....I presume it must be hitting something but I can't think what that might be.

P.S. on an 8v, pretty sure it is just a 1 bolt job, don't think the manifold has to come off but could be wrong.

Yes the manifold has to come off, which does make an easy task a b1tch.

It shears because the head of the dipstick vibrates around and has quite a lever as the one mounting point is lower down.

A cable tie at the top would have saved that happening !
