Best Exhaust For Gti6 Conversion

Recommended Posts

Para

Hi there,

What exhaust would be the best for my GTi6 conversion ? I don't want to go to loud, my last car had 2.5" pipe with Magnex back box and it was to noisy. What should I go for this time ?

Thanks,

Mike

The 2.5 is perfect for the 6 conversion, thats what im using. You could get a more quieter back box and silencer's.

do you think the 2 inch is too small? as in a free flowing 2inch with no horble bends?

what do the gti-6 have as standerd?

Mine has a standard Ph2 exhaust and is fine, not short of power and gives a nice rasp without being overly noisy.

Miles assured me the Ph2 system was perfect, and he should know.

As long as you have the 2.5" downpipe of the correct length and proper mandrel bends in the rest of the system I wouldn't think a 2" system would strangle a standard 6 engine. In fact theres quite a few forum users using 2" systems with 175bhp+ engines.

as said the 2" seems fine on the 6 engine and gives the same std power or there abouts in 205's, The Phase 1 1 1/2" or 3 piece system is horrid and really makes a huge differance,

But I tend to use my 2 1/2" system on quite a few car's which I;ve yet to have any that I know of on the roller's

Thanks guys, so far I will go with standard exhaust , as I have nice Gutmann back box. In the future I will be happy to get some custom made 2.25" exhaust, that would be definitely enough.

Has yours got the 2.5" downpipe? Id like to put a stainless back box on it when I get it will one still fit ok?

I had a 2.5 system on when I first did the conversion, Now I've gone back to the standard phase 2 job, nice and raspy when you put your foot down, and you can still have a conversation!

Is it also hard for you guys to source original exhaust for Phase II ? I find it very difficult in Poland, there is a month waiting time and it has to be shipped from Belgium for some enourmous amount of money :/
