Slow Wipers

Recommended Posts

Stevo309

Hi all. The wipers on my 205 are very slow for some reason. Car has covered 97k. Is this likely to be a worn out motor or are there any other known aspects of the mechanism or electrics that can cause this? Thanks

They just get too old so its a common problem, have a search for 'upgrade wiper motor' on here.

I replaced mine with one from either a 106 or 306 I can't remember which, it worked a treat.

Failing that, it could be a bad earth?

Thanks guys. I'll strip it down and see what it looks like, lubing it all up is probably the quickest and cheapest thing to try first before buying new stuff.

My brothers A6 need sorting now and then but once done they work a treat.

I stripped cleaned and lubricated the spindles plus the ball and sockets for the rods which made a bit of difference, but it was the Saxo wiper motor that made the big improvement

engine killer

I have mine changed to a low mileage 306S16 (re-conditioned) about 2 years ago. It is now going back to almost as slow as before. It sometimes works OK but most of the time it goes juddering.

Check the local (Peugeot dealer), a new motor costs aroung GBP300 and GBP160 for 205 nad 306 respectively. Has anyone got any experience about a new motor? Can it cure all problems (slow and judder)?

Thanks.

Yeah relubing mine made it a tiny bit better. Putting a Saxo motor in there made them like new. You do have to swap out the mechanisms, nothing too hard though. I think the most difficult thing was getting the windscreen seal back on top of the scuttle panel without cracking it!
