Complete Originality Or Change And Upgrade?

Here's the question...should I replace parts on my 99.99% original 205 Rallye?

Some of the engine parts are looking a touch grubby/dirty/used. Is it considered to be sacrelidge to swap, for example, the track rod end or a hose if they're looking a bit used? I have a real dilema as the only thing on the car that has been changed since it left the showroom is the battery, nothing else. I suppose the fluids have been changed at the regular service intervals but I'm confident that the tyres, brake pad and discs, windscreen wipers and other items that suffer from the wear and tear of 9,800 miles are the originals too.

Also the wheels are a little "used", is it a crime to have them refurbished/resprayed? I think not but I assume there are people who would value the originality and patina as opposed to having clean and shiny bits.

I suppose I'll have to shell out on a main dealer type service as the book has been stamped all the way up to 9.100ish miles. Are there any recommendations of a good Peugeot garage in the vicinity of Brighton/Worthing/Sussex?

Photos don't really show the whole story, I may post some here if it's the 'done thing' though. I'm a little concerned of ballsing up the etiquette on the forum!!

I'd say replacing consumable parts is expected. I.e track rod ends and wiper blades.

cant see the harm in replacing parts which will wear out with daily use, as for the tyres being original from when the car was new surely they are hard as bricks by now and probably dangerous, no???

i would change whats needed.

it's changing the parts that make it a rallye that will detract from originality after all a fully rebuilt concourse queen is not 100% original. Just use original parts and that'll be fine I reckon.

I agree with the other posters, use genuine standard parts and you will be fine.

Just don't go off tack and start modifying.

As much as I'm in awe and appreciate the great modded cars on here I've always had in mind to keep it absolutely standard.

I've got a service due on it in a few days so I think I'll get them to order a few OEM parts. I'm still not convinced that the tyres need changing, I've driven quite a few miles in it now and there's no feeling, sensation or noise coming from them to suggest they're knackered. The walls have no sign of cracking either so I may take the garage's word on that too, obviously not buying the tyres from them though I reckon they'd charge a fortune !

There's also not a squeak rattle or knock coming from the interior which, as I understand it, is really unusual too!
