Sub 10,000 Mile '92 Rallye!

Recommended Posts

Wibble

This is something you only dream of surely? I bought this Rallye on Friday afternoon, threw a bucket of water over it, treated it to a new battery and a little air for the tyres (40p! Cheeky bastards) and took it for it's first MOT for 7 years. It passed obviously! No advisories either!

My future plans include cleaning the dashboard and engine bay and then probably rocking up to a few shows and winning prizes!! I'll get some photos sorted soon and post them.

In the mean time your comments/questions are invited. I shall reply once I've picked my jaw from the floor!!

I might need pointing in the right direction for the uploading of photos, is there a "joey" thread on it?

Cheers

Wibble

Oh, it's got 9,815 miles approx. on it now, I've been having a little fun in it!!

Pretty special find that. Pictures would be nice, just upload them to an image hosting website then they will give you a link to use in the forum to display the pic

Cheers Daz and Craig, I'm just off out to take a few more daylight photos as the others were done in the twilight. I'm confident of uploading the photos to the forum I just need to work out how to get them on the macbook now....

I found it when browsing through Gumtree and a swift email to the guy secured me first dibs on it. His Aunt had bought the car new from a local dealer, had it serviced religiously even though she was clocking up no mileage of any significance. She parked in her her garage (phnaar phnaar) finally seven years ago and there it sat, dry, unmolested apart from a cat who used it as a highway to and from the garden I guess. She is now in a dementia type care home and I have a little bargain beauty!!!

It's completely original with original 5 tyres etc and the original 'new car' smell!!! What a little dancer! The interior had a small amount of surface mould/mildew that has already been wiped off. I don't think the back seats have ever been sat on. I'm not sure why she bought the Rallye to be honest, must have been a wonder salesman in the dealers that day!

I'll get loads of photos of it from now on but it will really just be a case of here's a slightly dirty bit, oooh look I've cleaned and it looks new now!!! It may not be until later as I have an urge to go and clean, buff and polish!!

blimey, its this one I take it? so it just shows they're out there, just need to keep your eyes peeled. Keep it all nice and std to, be a shame to see this one with alloys and a GTA interior.

Good work

Wow, not much more to say. That looks amazing, got to love the yellow wheels. I'm assuming the interior ans seats are mint? ( a near non exsistant quality of a 205 rallye!) Also the yellow ones are a little more rarer than the white ones.

Yep, that's the kiddy. I reckon it's pretty damn fine as it is and have absolutely no intention of tampering with it. Plus I have little or no mechanical know how!!

The seats are completely perfect. The side bolsters have their shape still and haven't worn at all. I've waved a rag at the dash and hoovered it out but once the outside is sorted I'll move in there on a mission. Loads of photos of that to follow too...

It really is 'as new'.

I've had a good look at the Pirelli P2000s that lovingly envelope the perimeter of the original yellow steelies and I've got to say they haven't degraded at all! The car was kept in a garage and apparently haven't suffered from the elements at all including UV light and although they had lost a few psi there was still at least 20psi in each tyre!

Having had a few hours with the toothbrush at it I can honestly say there are maybe 2 or 3 spots that aren't literally perfect! The bumpers front and back have a few 'old lady' scars where she has brushed into the gatepost or something, the battery tray has suffered from a battery leaking over it and has no paint on it and the paint on the wheels has been scuffed off here and there and there is a little surface rust on them in patches. The only thing that has been replaced is the battery, everything else is as it rolled out of the showroom or possibly even better having had a few hours of elbow grease lavished on it!!

I've taken a few more photos of it this eve but I'm not happy as the glare from the flash isn't a true reflection of it's perfection. I may post some later but will probably wait until tomorrow if the weathers any good!

This is my first time on a forum and also with such a mint car, normally I have right old snotters so it's nice to read the comments you're leaving!! Keep it up!

Double cherry poppage!

I pretty chuffed Davie to be honest, I've missed out on a few beauties over the years and the guy was really pleasant to deal with too. Keep 'em peeled and one day it could be you!!

To be honest you probably won't see me driving it about too much, I'm determined to keep the miles as low as possible, 10,000 miles seems sooo many more than 9,863!! You're welcome to come and bask in it's reflected glory though! I've got a silly grin on my face and I think it may have been from spending so much time today with it!!

I'd look at changing the tyres though as sitting on the same spot for that length of time will have caused them to flat and the carcase could well be damaged. For the sake of 4 new tyres I'd do it.

Well worth that money, put it away and forget about it for a few years. It's sure to be worth a mint in years to come.

I've finally finished cleaning the Rallye this weekend and got some nice photos of it. Currently advertising it for sale all over the internet (including on here shortly).

I reckon I've spent 30 - 45 hours cleaning this little beauty and am gutted to sell it. If I had the room and a garage I certainly wouldn't sell but I think it's too good to hang around outside for the winter. It may 'only' be a Rallye but it's in such amazing nick, it's really like driving a new car...

Loads more photos to come, mostly from the same album on Flickr, www.flickr.com/photos/pug205rallye/.

I thought you were being sarcastic Baz :)

£7995 is eye opening to say the least.

Would you really be 'gutted' if you got it Wibble? Really?
