It could be driveshaft. does it 'klonk' when you pull away in forward gears?

Hey,

only when i pull away after reversing but not all the time!

doesnt do it if i pull off forwards normally, ie stopped at lights etc!

Worn caliper sliders on the 1.6 Bendix calipers is a common cause of a loud "knock" sound when reversing. I replaced mine with 1.9 items :D

Edit: Plenty of threads about it! http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...p;p=782309&

iirc, you have a 1.6 gti

it could be the front brake pads binding slightly with the discs

someone more familiar with the 1.6 brake set up should be able to verify

welcome to 205 ownership

Are we looking at the split cv boot? If the clonking is due to this you'll need a new joint/driveshaft. I'd still check the brake sliders just to be sure though -_-

im aware of that also, only coz of looking at the sliders! ( another job to add to the list, lol) but the bit that looks a bit like a spanner (part of a slider kit) between 2 bolts on the right hand picture is missing on the left hand picture.......

think some one might of had it apart b4!?!?

Got an MOT soon, not sure if any of this comes into it but id better get a lick on!!
