Tyre/wheel Sizes

Ok chaps, just a quick question here.

I have a 205 1.4i Sceptre which currently has 165/70T13 tyres on it.

I really want to get some original 205 alloys on it (pepperpots?) but I am very confused whether they will fit and if they will be legal? According to kwik fit I think the tyres for them are 185/55V15, this means they are wider and shallower right??

I've heard stories of having problems with brakes and wheel arches etc so I just want to check before I buy a set!

and wheel sizes are different to tyre sizes yeah?

Help? Confusion!

These are pepperpots. They work well and look good on base models. Tyre size is usually 185/60 R14

It's the larger 1.9 Gti wheels (15") that sometimes cause problems with the arches on base model shells.

Indeed - I used to run 1.6 GTi "Pepperpots" on my 205 XS...

1.6 pepperpots look like exactly what I'm after!

So does the R stand for Rim? So a 14" wheel would end R14?

And the figures are made up width/depth right?

R stands for Radial, which is the way its constructed - pretty much all tyres are radial though as far as I'm aware.

The other ones that fit are 306 Harrier wheels from a 306 dTurbo.

And you want 185/60/14 tyres and not the ones Kwikfit said. The advantage to Harriers is that the centres push out so can be balanced easier.

185 60 R14

185 is the width in mm

60 is the profile (60 = 60% of the width)

R means Radial type tyre

14 is the diameter in inches
