Loose Seats, And The Mot

Recommended Posts

my MOT is looming and I'm unsure as to wether the seats will go through. They went through OK last time but that was a different place. SO my question is wether there is anyway of 'tightning' the seat up, they seem to move on the subframe almost, its not terrible movement i.e. it doesnt feel like they're about to fall off, but I was sondering what Mr. MOT man might think of this.

There's some rubber bungs on the underside of the subframe you can wind out to take up the slack.

As long as they are actually secure and don't come unclipped from the mechanisms they wont fail on it, but will often get an advisory.

its often wear in one of the solid sound bars at the rear of the mechanism that a catch slides over, I added some weld to build the groove out of the bar and tightened up the rubber blocks Anthony mentioned.

Mine failed on this last MOT, both seats. The bolts holding the subframe in were tight but the seat to the subframe were a little loose so I tightened them up which helped no end. However I'm now changing the subframes as one of the bars as snapped. The last 205 went through no advisories with wobbely seats, I think it's to be expected!

thats great! thanks guys. hopefully you've just saved me alot of hassle. I was going to have a look at where they were wobbling and weld to make it 'fixed' but this would probably also mean that they wouldnt slide, or tilt etc. so cheers guys!
