Brake Fluid In An Opened Bottle

Recommended Posts

How long is brake fluid good for once the bottle is opened?

I've got a big tub of the stuff, I'm guessing it's only good for the bin, but want to check before I chuck out enough brake fluid for a full system change. It's about half full and I've had it for about a year, maybe as much as two, and it's been stored in my garage.

That'll be good for the bin I'm afraid. Once you open it it starts absorbing water from the air, it'll be ok for a couple of weeks but any longer than that and you should just bin it.

Agreed, even when a bottle has not been opened and left in a garage for a long time, it can still absorb water which makes it no good.
