Information For Cti Rear Shelf/blind

Hi,

I've just bought a 1.9 CTI and don't really know anything about them.

 

At the moment there is nothing at the back of th rear seats to cover the boot in, so you can see straight through. Can someone tell me what should be fitted and if possible post a few pics for me?

Just to let people know, I have had 309 Gti's and a Goodwood with a professional 16v conversion, so I've got some knowledge of Peugeot's. I just don't have any knowledge of the 205 CTI, so hopefully someone will help me out with information.

There is a thin carpeted 'mini' shelf mounted at an angle to cover the rear crossmember with the five bolts which hold the roof down at the rear, which then meets a small horizontally mounted parcel shelf onto which the roof rests when folded down. If I get a chance, I'll post some pics of mine.

i also have a missing self i did get a secon had one but it didint fit properly and just colapsed when i fitted two 6" speckers into it are there any other supporting but as is sean very flimsy?

Hi,

It does sound like the shelfs not very strong, but Id still like to get the missing bits for mine.

It sounds like if you want rear speakers then they'd have to be put them somewhere else, or you'd have to have some sort of frame, re-inforcing to take the weight.

 

Did you find your shelf at a general breakers or was it a specialist one, or did you get one on this forum?

These are surprisingly strong, given the fact that the roof assembly rests on them. It must be that yours was a poor fitment. I would not recommend putting speakers in the shelf due to the fact that the roof can make a mess of the shelf itself over time, let alone speakers, plus CTI parts are becoming more and more scarce without unneccesary mutilations. I keep a piece of black cloth on top of mine to prevent the roof rubbing the shelf when down. I will try and get some pics of mine up asap to show what you need. There is a CTI being broken by a guy called jamie on the flea at the moment, he may have the two main bits (angled trim and shelf.) If all else fails, I may have spares of both somewhere.

The shelf locates on a couple of flimsy tabs that push into the rear trim above the rear window retaining bar. It is useless putting speakers in there for top down days as the hood totally stifles the sound anyway! I have been toying with the idea of rear headrests / speaker enclosures to get over this but it realy is just a fledgling thought at the moment.

never thought about it like that, its a trick one the cti the rear doorcards(i know there not doors but you know what i mean) are far too small to even think about modifying dude to the window winders maybe just two good sets of components in the frount would be best all round.

I've recently just purchased a 89 Cti in cherry red, and some clever person has decided to cut the front speaker holes to accept 6x9's.......gash is the only word that discribes it!!

 

The parcel shelf in mine just sits on the 2 support blocks and wobbles about, is there supposed to be a bar that runs along the edge of the shelf in a Cti?

in not sure when i bought my cti it had be abused by some kid in london spent two year rebuilding it after the gear box fell of as it was held in by 2 bolts and a bit of tiger seal, if you read back there 2 parts to the rear shelf (i wasnt aware if this eather) it bolts the the reat of the car under the roof.

If putting speakers in the rear shelf, always cover them when the roof is down as it will mark and ruin the plastic window, I learnt that the hard way. I made an MDF shelf up and mounted the speakers under it with holes cut in and then covered in speaker cloth, see the pics they are not clear but you get the idea.

Thanks for the pics, think I may only need the rear shelf as I've got the sloping piece at the base of the back window.

 

Someone told me there is a bar that runs across the boot under the shelf, any truth in this?
