Gti6 Conversion

Same, but you need to swap bits of the box to 205 items.

 

or keep the the clutch and use the pull set up by modifying the clutch set up.

 

either way you will possibly will need to swap to a 205 diff

The VTS box will need the 1.9 box gear selector arm and clutch arm with new plastic bearings fitted, all of which are still available from Pug afaik, then the above will fit. Also to make it easier you can use the 1.9 diff so you wont have to mess about with the drive-shafts.

 

There are other methods, like what taylorspug has done using the pull type clutch.

 

Oh and you will need the VSS, elec/mechanical speed cog from the S16 engined type.

i have another question what master cylinder do i need too use i remember some1 mentioning a 406 item if so from what 406 an rough year so can order one from local factor who allways what year model etc cheers

No you definitely don't have to if you will use your 1.9 GTI brakes. People still have GTI master cylinder even with GTI6 brakes and it's working fine. Pedal might be responding differently though

Yes the push type clutch kit because the 1.9 is a push type as well, you will also need the 205 1.9 clutch arm shaft mechanism, also get the new bearings so it will make the pedal feel light, well much lighter than they usually do, they usually come in white.

I've spent an hour searching, I'm sure Dan Taylor recomended a place to buy an air filter from but I can't find it. Can anyone recommend a decent website?

...and it just so happens that I have that very same filter, as used in a few member's GTI6 conversions, which I purchased new from Car Builder Solutions quite a while back and never used. It's still in it's packaging.

 

If anyone wants it, you can have it for a few quid cheaper than the current CBS price (whatever that may be).

Me again!

 

Still trying to figure out the alternator belt, hopefully a size smaller should fix that though.

 

The Lambda Sensor is in the exhaust, however, I can't find anything that tells me what to do with the wires? Can anyone please help?

I wondered what the other connector was for :D I didn't notice/had forgotten it in that photo.

 

The ebay special sensor is just 4 wires, none marked, I best get searching

are they coloured at all? typically two white one grey and one black, I'd be inclined to go hunting in a scrappy for an o.e replacement as they are nearly all the same on XU engined 306's after about 1997.

The belt i used was a 6pk700 from a local motorfactors, this is only possible if you pivot the alternator to use it as a tensioner.

Just went and checked, two white, one grey and one black. The plug on the loom has 4 coloured wires.

Got a 6pk700 but can't get the bolt out to move the alternator, I'll grab the size smaller and it should tension with the cambelt tensioner I have mounted near it.

 

No worries about the engine fork, thanks for the partial refund :D

Found an NGK link

 

Black - Signal

Grey - Earth

White - Heater

White - Heater

 

Doesn't help when the car loom is different colours :D

White - Heater ===== and the other colour i couldn't make out

 

 

Just a quick thought, mine uses the VTS wiring loom so could be different :D

heater side -

Pin 1 - wire 123, 12v switched +,

Pin 2 - Wire M123 earth,

 

sensor side -

 

pin 3 wire 131 to ecu 4 (earth)

pin 4 wire 130 ecu pin 22, (signal)

 

all XU 306's (and most TU) post 97 use the same lambda, as do all Xsara's.
