Selling Cars On Here

Recommended Posts

Do you think its allright to say your cars for sale and you put up a big list of whats its got and how good it is. You put up a price of £6000 and no pictures and when some one wants to see some you say pm me. Most of you guys put up pictures even when the cars only £600. My reason for asking is there is an ad like this on for sale and surely if this cars so good a few pictures would be no trouble so we could all see it.£6000 is alot of dosh so why keep it unseen, seems strange. As this is an honest forum, should,nt items of this amount have more detail so we can all see? Also i,am the one that asked for the pictures but was asked to pm, is this £6000 car top secret and when no one else replied he bumped it with more of how good it is. No pictures of this amazing car, i would,nt be interested, what about you guys?

i think i know the car your on about

as i know the guy who is selling, and know he is a genuine and honest guy, i would not need to see pics as i know this car is as described

i can understand how you feel though.

personally, i would just look into the history of forum members first, to decide wether the seller can be trusted

ebay! well that's another story

They say a picture paints a thousand words.

All I will say is it takes only a few minutes to upload them so why not?

^^^^^^ What the tread or the car?

Like you HS I would like to see the car and did think about PMing the seller just to have a look. I like looking at nice cars! but its not the done thing  .

So now I just sit outside his house hopping for a glimpse! ;);)

It is up to the seller at the end of the day, the only thing I can think of is he did not want the thread full of "nice car" Comments.

I guess he's hoping that the spec of the car speaks volumes about it, and the appearance is secondary (probably why he doesn't state what colour it is either, as anyone interested in it would be buying it for the spec rather than what it looks like).

That said, I think it's a bit lazy to offer something for sale without a picture. A bit like not washing your car before a prospective buyer comes around. A car like that is going to have niche appeal, so it's in his interest to maximise his chances of a sale, and not having pictures readily available is doing him no favours.

And we all like a nosey at a well specced 205, so it's a bit of an anti-climax!

If you really are interested, and knowing the spec of the car and its owners past with pugs, then I'd just ask for pictures to be emailed.

I don't think Darren wants to sell really, its just he doesn't use it much, and certainly doesn't need the money from what I have heard.

Which shouldn't happen anyway given it's against the rules.

I agree it'd help to put up pictures, as said they paint a thousand words, whether or not others have seen the car, or the seller is a known good egg, it will help them to and perhaps then be open to more prospective buyers. It doesn't take much does it!

Good pictures are arguably the most important part of the advert for me. It's like these people who go through the effort of taking pictures and they take the naffest pictures possible, really puts me off.

A well presented advert to me paints a picture of the person im dealing with.

I was browsing Volvo V70s the other week and saw an advert where the person had photographed the car in what looked like a crowded supermarket carpark, and it was parked up against railings so they were partially obscurring the front view of the car.

What a total lazy twat!

And it was a dealer

For the record I was very much interested in the car, still am but as I want to get into circuit racing it would just be as stupid car to buy - I'd end up in a super modified arena with people with either loads of experience or loads of cash. Not much fun to start out!

Having known Dazza (although not very well) for years, having a lot to do with DES back in the day, and knowing a lot of Dazza's mates (Lynchy and the like) I actually didn't care about the pictures.

If you know the full spec of the car, know anything about Dazza and his mates and how they build cars, know the work that has gone into building it, then you wouldn't actually be bothered.

Unfortunately in your case you obviously don't, but certainly don't let this put you off. The whole method of selling is fantastic for stopping the timewasters, and ending up with a 10 page for sale thread full of comments about how nice/much of a bargain/should keep it/overpriced/wrong spec/etc etc etc.

It's a very good (unique in places!) spec car, sure a couple of things I would change, but it's above and beyond a car built purely from reading forums and paying someone to bolt stuff together.

I won't go into the actual work done, just suggest anyone who is genuinely interested in buying makes contact with Dazza and go through everything. It'll take a while.

Oooppsss,

It looks like ive quite innocently caused a thread on the GT16v by not posting pictures of the car, pleased to see its all in good spirit though.

To reply to the origional question and I really dont mind the thread, to post pictures on either of the Peugeot forums is quite time consuming for me being mad busy all the time, and I dont really mind comments either way " nice car especially" not so much thats not nice albeit there wont be any of those...

This is my answer.

I built this car from the ground up with all my 20 years of experience and there are certain details that I have in there taken from ground breaking cars that I have been lucky enough to experience back in the day little touches like the yellow cam cover, that memory comes from the experience of hill climbing in the gorgeous white carbed 309 MI16 of Johnathan Watson (fast eddie) back in the early 90's his cam cover and pully's were yelow and there are more like the flocked dash thats another from spending a day in the company of the Ryton rally team with the 306 S16's and there are lots more but this car to me is much more than a rapid track car its 20 years of my experiences with these cars and the club.

I have wanted to build one of these since being 21 years old and I have built one of the finest 205 MI16's there is. The price tag and pictures are irrelevant to me its worth much more,

I have had offers in the pits for this car over the years to the tune of the £6k + and replied its not for sale, I never built it to sell !

I have politely posted that a Pm for pictures for the serious enquiries and have over 30 here for anyone wishing to see the car and have sent some out to people who were absolutely honest just to have a look at it and were unsure of there finantial status.

However as some politely post I do know how to build a 205 and have a hand in building two of the best British Rallycross Stock hatch Championship winning cars for that I thankyou for your polite confidence.

So that my reply, quite an in-site into my 205 build ethos and still no pictures.... I genuinely hope you all understand and I appologise to HK if he feels Ive disrespectfully replied to his request.

I have very little time to use my 205's these days and would really like both these cars to go to genuine enthusiasts or competitors who will enjoy them for many years to come.

Rest assure you wont find any better examples !

It takes 2mins to load picture on the comp and 5 mins taking the photo's, hey you could have done some with the amount of time it took to write your post , then i'm sure you would sell it in less time that that due to pictures..

Tell that to my wife when she's trying to upload pics from her crap laptop using our crap T-Mobile dongle! It's like watching paint dry.

Dazza sorry mate i didn't mean to cause you problems. My thread was meant to be in general and unfortunately i used your ad as an example. I'am sure your car is as good as it looks and as said it was nothing personal. Best wishes with the sale and i'am sure the pictures will help.
