Earth Question

Recommended Posts

Guest NickH

Hi,

I've been rebuilding my engine, and a guy that helped me, just ripped off the loom. Now I'm puzzling the loom back and I managed to connect everything again, except the earth.

My car is a 205 Rallye with a 1.9 DFZ (XU9J1) engine. Where exactly is the point on the gearbox where I have to connect the main earth? I just can't seem to find it.

I also have 2 more wires left, I guess earth aswell. Where to put these?

Here's a pic of the 2 wires:

Thanks in advance,

Nick

On a Be gearbox its slightly behind & towards the block from the breather (be3) or reverse lockout cable (Be1).

Thanks! I guess I have the BE3 gearbox, so I'll check it out tomorrow. Are the 2 loose wires also connected there?

Also, there's a thing om top of the gearbox that looks like a plastic tube. It looks like something has to go in there. If so, than I missed something... I'll take a pic tomorrow

Cheers,

Nick

Be3 gearbox is reverse behind fifth, Be1 next to first with a lock out collar.

The plastic tube if it has a hex shape on is the breather, there is usually a small plastic cap on them but they easily come off & get lost so its not a problem.

Both earth leads go to the same stud on the gearbox, iirc one is from the ecu loom & the other goes to the battery negatiive terminal.

I finally found the stud! Got the loom completely connected and working again. Many thanks!

Only thing to do now is to fill the gearbox again, fit the exhaust and my baby will be on the road again soon. ;)
