Anyone Else's Insurance Gone Up?

Recommended Posts

Cameron

Opened two letters today from my insurer, Sky, to find that my premium has gone up by around £100 per policy despite having 5 years NCB now! Means the insurance for both my cars now comes to nearly £1K!!

Has anyone else been stung recently, and can anyone recommend a good alternative company for my 205?

If it makes you feel better my 205 costs more than 1k to insure.

Yes it has, every insured car has to pay £44 to pay for the false compensation claims.

I'm not sure if mine went up as I can't remember exactly what it was last year, but it's pretty similar at £349 this year with Flux.

I was actually really lazy this year as I couldn't be arsed with the shopping around, I've too much else on my mind. I only tried 2 alternatives...

Greenlight, who I've had policies with many times over the years, seems to be very picky now. They have a long list of cars they won't touch on their website, no longer do telephone quotes, and they they declined to quote me because of my postcode! I see them going down the s*itter soon.

Sky, who for the 2nd year in a row disappointed me. This year the guy squirmed when I told him my renewal price and told me it was a good price. Said he'd see what they could do and would call me back. That was last Friday and I'm still waiting :)

So I just renewed with Flux in the end. Think it's the first year I've not managed to reduce my insurance from shopping about.

Either your insurance has had a lot less claims or is better at spotting the fakes.

Insurance policies are up 20-25% this year, the largest single ever increase in premiums thanks to fraud, personal injury claims and a bumper winter in terms of accidents. Insurance companies are trying to make up the deficit.

Yeah, everyones insurance renewals seem to be going up. Its mainly due to the recent financial crisis and people not having money, money lending problems and people in general not wanting to take risks (including insurance companies). So the cost has gone up. Doesn't help that due to this many people can't afford it, so drive uninsured and thus this makes the problem worse as then all our renewals go up from having to pay for all the uninsured drivers.

I think blaming the "financial crisis" is an excuse, it probably is fraud is on the increase and insurance companies have borne this for the past few years but now finally passed it on to the customer in the form of increase premiums.

My BMW had gone almost 50%(!) with Privilege, but manage to get a quote A.Flux that was same as I paid last year. Had been with Privilege since I bought the car in '05 as they were consistently the cheapest for this car, and came down slightly year on year except this year where it's shot back up.

Yep its all down to the amount of claims last winter gave us as well as the fake/real compensation claims. My insurance is due this Sept and it has gone up by £200, iv had a good search around and its the best price i can get, it seems its getting worse and worse by the month and i cant wait till my 6 is 15 years old and have that on classic insurance. So thats £20 a month more for me :):(.
