Hi guys new to the 205 game, got nearly a 1991 1.9 gti, the car I always wanted as a kid! So I have a few questions if you don't mind.

1. What is my engine code? Haynes manual ain't helping!

2. Where is the coolant temp sensor and how do I test the gauge is working at the dash side?

3. My heater blower don't work! As I've deducted this is a common problem, turning the knob just makes a click and dims my lights a little, I took the knobs of and I think it's broke now, lol. How do I test the blower motor works? Is it hard to remove?

That'll do for now I'm sure there'll be more from me lol

Thanks guys :-)

Although it isn't the easiest to get to grips with, the search on here will provide the vast mojority of the answers you are looking for, so please make the effort to have a go with it.

Anyway, to get you started,

Engine code can be found on the plate near the left hand upper engine mount as you look at the engine with the bonnet up. Quite possibly D6B but you'll need to check.

Coolant temp sensor is at the back of the head, below the distributor. If you remove the wire and touch to earth the gauge should read full scale if all is OK.

Heater blower fan is under the dash on the passenger side, 3 screws to get it out.

As Tom has said. The only thing i will add is that it does sound like your fan has Seized.

I have had this with couple of them now every time I have removed the 3 bolts and unplug, spray with WD40 and turn by hand until it spins free.

refit and try.
