Tyres Scrubbing

Recommended Posts

Petrolsniffer

Hello all first topic here ;)

Now onto my questions I currently have a 205 1.1 style on 406 steels with 195/50/15 tyres and it scrubs at the rear with 1 passenger in the front and 1 in the back.

Me and a friend have had a go at rolling the arches abit with his arch roller but it still scrubs a little I can see the marks on the plastic bumper so i'm assuming it's only scrubbing there now.

My dilemma is i'd like to lower it probally around 35mm all round I'm assuming this will make the problem reappear unless maybe I took it to a bodyshop for professional rolling? or would getting thinner tyres be only the solution?

Only I got brand new tyres all round a week or so ago thinking it'd be ok ;) so I'm looking at that as a last option... :D

Thanks uld

A couple of solutions that I can see;

  • Uprate the rear beam with thicker torsion bars/Arbs
  • Remove the 15" wheels
  • Stop carrying passengers!

How much have you removed from the arches already?

We gave up with 15" wheels on the rallye, got the car much lower to the ground with 13" 106 rallye wheels :rolleyes:

I don't think the arches have much more give without looking stupid.

Uprate the rear beam you mean with a gti one? it's something i've had in the works so will try that out.

15" wheels are not really a goer on a non-gti. Put it on 14" 306 lazers (dturbo wheels) and deck it!

Wes

you need 195/45 tyres on non gti models, that will help a bit.
