Very Noisy Transmission

Recommended Posts

daveo

hi there,

i have a 1900 205 that i am trying to prep for rallying for myself.

after suspecting that one of my front wheel barings had gone, following the advice of my machanic i jacked up each side of the car and spun the wheel up listen for the noise.

both side made a god awful noise don't really know how to discribe it but its deffently in the transmission and i suspect the diff!

the drivers side also gave me vibration and i'm told a few sparks so i thinks thats my suspect baring!

HELP!

Did you have the front of the car in the air or did you jack up a corner at a time?

If you had the front of the car off the ground did you have some one holding the the wheel you did not want to spln.

What I mean is did you allow for the diff action on the wheel that you were not turning?

i jacked up the one corner at a time. so the ground was holding the wheel still.

however i've just sourced myself a 1600 gearbox to suit my car so i may just replace both front barings and change the box (and clucth as that shot too) all at the same time, also i thinki'll bang on the lightened fly while its all off

I have a 1.6 flywheel if you like. If you are spending money may as well replace the drive shafts as well :) .
