Suspension Pointers

Recommended Posts

hey

currently going through my newly acquired 1.9 gti and sorting out niggles and now its come to suspension/damping etc etc

looking to replace the system completely but have been warned by all that a poor choice/selective tuning of suspension parts will result in a fidgety and poor handling car

ive read abit about different setups, but when it comes to actually living with and driving with them you guys will know best

advice please

cheers john

Bilstein spring & damper kit rather than coilovers, the damping will be much better on those than a cheapy set of coilovers.

The peugeot 205 bilstein motorsport stuff is stiffer and will work a lot better than the B6 dampers which although uprated 30% are full length dampers and not really suitable for lowered cars, though you can get away with a 20mm drop.

Alternatively if you're looking for something really cheap I have a set of 306 GTi6 springs and dampers that are a fairly decent upgrade on a 205.
