Getting Sidetracked...

Recommended Posts

dave_gti

I was supposed to be sorting out my brakes and beam ready for when parts arrive, but the gf arrived home and i got sidetracked, when i say sidetracked, i mean bullied :) into helping her tint the headlights on the beemer.

Before....

After....

One side done, and one side standard so you can see the difference...

I think the idea of the film on the lights is excellent as protection, especially for the driving on the 205s as its quite thick & rubbery, obviously its available as clear, light tint, dark tint, and different colours.

Have you ever tried smoking them by putting an insert inside the lamps? I read about it for my beemer , looked a bit tricky though.

I might be missing something, but surely putting tinted film over the lights will just make them worse at night?

I do have a soft spot for E30's though, and that one does look rather tasty....

I love E30's, they are definate classics/future classics in my eyes. Is that a 3 door or a 5 door?

No I haven’t seen that, we were going to buy some already tinted, but at £100+ the film option was more appealing.

I did think that too, but it doesn’t seem to of made a difference, or if it has its not very noticeable. I think you’d like this one Anthony, it has an m50 engine under the bonnet and was fully rebuilt with genuine 325 parts and an M3 LSD, and it can be quite surprising in the wet

I'm liking that even more!

I always pondered putting in a M30 3.0 or 3.5 engine if I ever got one, but that M50 does look somewhat at home in that engine bay and it would be rude to refuse a bit more power...

Shes very happy with the replies

I bought it for me, but it meant selling my 205, which when it came too it, i just couldnt so the gf sold her Astra MK3 GSI to buy it because she loved it so much. Plus this means i get to steal it when i have the urge for RWD fun.

Looks nice, any more pics of the bmw?

I'm seriously considering getting an e36 328 sport at the moment but that would mean selling the 205 which I know I'd regret!

E30's quite tasty, not as tasty as the one we have in at work though.

It is THE 1987 DTM winning E30, and its f*cking mint!!

Any excuse for E30 pics-

This is mine, standard IS apart from the optional LSD, and Polybushed Rear Axle mounts. Has been my daily drive for nearly a year and a half, and its purchase seemed to coincide strangely with a loss of enthusiasm towards the 205 :). Really great car, has been more or less faultless in the 10k I have had it, and still feels a lot more solid then the car it replaced (A 50k 2001 Puma!) Will have to shift it soon as I may well be doing a lot more miles in the near future requiring something younger, however considering it's a 20 year old car, I still think its a pretty good daily.

Hey Oli, I did a CarLimits day with my mate in my 205 and his 328i sport coupe last year. Great car for the money, the engine is a wall of torque, pretty much as quick as the 205 in gear I think. Heavy though and ate tyres on the track day, quite a lot of roll. Not many have LSD's either, favouring the ACS-T or whatever it is, which seems to be pretty crap. Oddly my mates one has not been at all reliable really, and it must have been in Spongebobs fleet for a while because it loves the rust! That engine in an e30 shell however..... :(

E30 are nice and I think a touring version would be great. But I'm sidetracking and I like old cars so how about one of these......

2002 + S14 motor = 2002 'M2'

If your going to get an E36 your better off going for the 325.. almost the same power and speed with much better mpg. The 328 seems abit lazy aswell compared to the 2.5

The e36 328 is heavily restricted by the inlet manifold.BMW did this because of some german legislation, . If you bang a 325 inlet on it, it releases loads of ponies
