Oil Spray Bar

Recommended Posts

eck_johnston

hi,

I might be being stupid but...

I was just having a gander at the state of the o-rings on my oil spray bar (having been reading up on the possible sources of engine rattles), and realised that one of the nozzles was missing (there are meant to be 5 i believe...?).

Looking at the front of the car, the nozzle on the left end of the bar seems to have vanished! i have no idea when this might have happened, or indeed where it might have gone which is worrying, as i've never disturbed the bar.

I'm guessing this won't be doing the cam a huge amount of good (although the lobes seem well enough lubed). Does anyone happen to have one of the nozzles kicking about? Should they even detach from the bar

The o-rings that don't seem in too great a condition although the 4 left are still intact if a bit hard. Can these be replaced with general purpose o-rings that i might have in a big screwfix set (assuming they are the right size), or is there something special about them?

cheers

eck

They need to be oil resistant otherwise they will break down, so check, and if unsure, get some proper ones, im sure Pug will still sell them. I do have the whole oil spray bar from an Mi16, maybe an 8V aswell. If you want me to take a look, PM me. (mind you Pug prob still sell the spray bar bit too?)

Matt

(i 'think' the ends of the spray bars are interchangeable between the 16 and 8 Valves)
