Lets Hope This Works?

just taken ownership of a vts box from tom and have been scratching my head how to get it to run on my be1 setup.

i know i could have just sourced a be3 cable and pedal but tbh my cable is brand new and i fancied a bit of a challenge.

i got a be3 release fork from james (cheers) then went to the scrappy and smashed a box casing apart to get a fork arm off <_<

my gear selector arem is splined where as the vts one is not so i just cut and welded the two together:

i then fabbed up a bracket (excuse the shockingly bad welding) to use the be1 cable with the be3 arm.

i am fitting this later on today so will let you know if it works or not.

Could this be our first 'gearbox fail'?

seems like a massive amount of effort to get out of buying a new clutch cable!!! good luck with it anyway.

if it was just the clutch cable then i wouldn't bother but its the pedal too and i would need to source the other be3 cable bracket too. and i always fancy a challenge :)

anyway it is a partial success, the idea is fine and it works fine if not for the battery tray it would be fine :) .

as i made it up away from the car i didn't factor in the tray, and when i tighten the mount up the bracket catches on the underneath.

i have just made another one up that sits much lower and goes under the tray, i guess in the same place the be3 one would go?

anyway i'll give it another bash tomorrow and see.

there is no other bracket for the be3 cable, its part of the gearbox casting you can see there.

i dont quite understand why you have had to move it as the place where the clutch cable sits is in the same place on them all i thought and i've just used the standard gti cable on my gti6 box

well what a palava that was :D

turns out it was easier just to modify the end of the cable to fit in the be3 cutout on the box.

works pefectly now

i really should stop making thing difficult for myself
