Safety Device Cage

hi every one i have a saftey device rear section of cage in my 205 rallye (its a racmsa/fia id.c12)

im wanting to beef it up a bit its only a single diagonal

im thinking of welding in a cross bar and a few other sections and getting the front half

what is the best tubing grade to use?

From SD website - have a look as there's some good info for your 'additions' such as this

 

CDS Carbon Steel

Otherwise known as Cold Drawn Seamless Carbon Steel, this is the material is used to manufacture all of our standard motor sport and 4 x 4 roll cages as it conforms to FIA material specification requirements and offers good elongation and weld-ability, which are key. Compared to T-45 it is a very cost effective material.

Modify the cage and it will no longer be FIA approved.

I'd have to check my blue book and I can't really be bothered :) I'm sure I was told if modified you can't use it on UK stage rallys when I was looking and adding to an OMP.

its just for road use. but i see your point might just look into gettin a whole new cage.

any suggestions on any cages?
