I think you will need the 1.9 thermostat housing too.

Though why you'd want a distributor is beyond me, my engine produced more power and torque and better drive-ability and fuel economy from dumping the distributor and fitting a coilpack equipped management system, and its just an 8 valver.

granted you'd not be able to do that properly on the 1.9 without aftermarket management, but the ecu does still control the spark on that as all the "distributor" on that system does is distribute the spark, the ecu does all the advance based on load via the TPS and AFM positioning.

The reason i wanted to run a distributor was i wanted to keep as much of the original 205 original loom as possible. I really dont know what im doing on the electrical side of things. Other reasons are the cost of getting the ecu unlocked and im also planning on running this engine on carbs.

You bought the whole running car didn't you, so surely you would have taken the 30 seconds odd to unlock the ECU prior to removing the engine and management from the car...

depends on the year, some (like my zx and 405) didn't use Locked ecu's (no keypad)

they had a simple alarm-immobiliser which didn't disable the ecu, just the rest of the car :)

if you're going to run carbs, then you can get something like an OMEX 200 or similar to just run the spark, these cost quite a bit less than a full management system, though if you haven't got the carbs yet, I'd personally stick to the standard injection and save some more for t/b's and full management.

No the car wasnt running when i brought it. Where should the keypad immobiliser be? I didnt see one in the car when i was in it.

What reg is it? Early 306 S16's (L reg and possibly some early M reg's) didn't have the keypad on them. It's on the center console just in front of the gear lever from memory (it's been a while since I've had a Phase 1 306) and if it's not there then you've probably got lucky and it's unlocked.

However, do I assume that you've also not heard the engine running?

I have heard the engine running. The head was off the car when i brought it as it had just been rebuilt. As far as i know there was no keypad infront of the gear stick but ill check to make sure.

it's something that were currently looking into, you will need to alter the ports as they don't match up but were trying to see if it's possible for the plate to do it all. I'll keep you posted on the progress
I would be interested in the GTI6 manifold plate aswell, pm me and let me know of any futher developments..

Regards, Luke..

Why reinvent the wheel when Petert already offers an adaptor plate to allow you to use a GTi-6 manifold on a 1.9 or 2.0 Mi16/S16 - clicky

Here is a pic of my center console. Im guessing i dont have the code pad then.

Seen as i probably dont have to pay to get the ecu unlocked i may as well work all of this out and run the engine with the correct ecu.

Having some problems with the loom now. Ive been searching on here and google for the last few hours and i still cant find a decent guide as to what connector goes where. Is there a picture which shows the loom from one end to the other and labels every connector coming off it? Ive read through the haynes 306 manual and a citroen one.

The other thing i havent been able to work out is one end of the loom goes into the ecu and the other is the 2 plugs (10 and 17 pin) which went into the bodywork below the fusebox. Where do i join the 205 loom too? Or is it a case of cutting both looms up and joining these connectors to the wiring on the 205 loom?

as far as plugging in all the sensor etc when you have the loom in it will be easier to do as most of it seems to fit into place if you follow me?

and as far as the 2 plugs are concerned you need to join them to the 2 brown plugs under your steering colum but its matching which wires go where

heres a link to a online 205 manual if you don hae one already

Thanks for the manual. I haven't looked through the 205 one yet. So basically the 2 plugs connect to the 205 loom under the dash, the 3rd plug connects to the coil packs and the ecu is at the other end of the loom?. Then its just matching up all the sensors?

Got a bit further with this now. I have removed the pas pump but i now need a new fan belt as im only running the alternator. Does anyone know what size belt i need?

One ever so slightly longer than the original 205's non pas belt is what I used, but it depends on the tensioner arrangement used.

I made up a simple bracket using some flat steel plate and the original adjuster bolts.
