Recommended Posts

hi guys have been searching for this this arvo but with no joy

the timings out on my mi16 (8v set-up) it was set ok but must have come slighty lose as its now miles out againg and wont tick over at all and when trying to crank her over it seems to either turn over really slow like it doesn't want to but fires up and cough and splutters or if i adjust its spins over freely but wont run at all i've tryed retarding the dizzy but will only go so far as vacum piece hits cooland pipe on thermostat any ideas on this as can't get my mates timing light tillhe gets back of holiday in week or so?

am i right in thinking if im facing engine advance is towards the bulkhead? retard towards me?

cheers

ps- to add my dizzy vacum is not connected to anything does this matter?

i would start by checking your timing belt hasnt jumped first, if this is ok then connect up the vacum advance as this should really be connected then see how you get on..

would also seriously think about getting the full mi16 loom and dizzy as the 8v setup just doesnt work as well, i had the same on my mi16 and fitting the proper loom was like night vs day.

good luck
